Danice Cabanela is a Filipino American actor, producer & activist born in the Philippines and raised in San Antonio, TX.  She began her acting career in Minneapolis where she attended the U of M / Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program and is also trained from Shakespeare's Globe, London. Onstage she has appeared in various musicals and plays including the musical workshop of ‘HEADING EAST’ opposite BD Wong,  “Lucinda” in ‘INTO THE WOODS’ (Mu Performing Arts), “Sarah” in ‘NOVEMBER 8TH ‘(Second City Hollywood) and “TUCKED AWAY” for which she won the award for Best Actress in a Drama Short.

 

Her Film/TV credits include: the female lead “Bonnie” in ‘ADVENTURE BEAST’ (NETFLIX), ‘DEAR WHITE PEOPLE’ (NETFLIX), ‘CALL ME KAT’ (FOX) and ‘THE TERMINAL LIST’ (AMAZON STUDIOS).

Commercially, she’s been lucky enough to work commercially for brands including adidas Originals, Target, Best Buy, Dunkin’ Donuts, Lyft, Fitbit, Toyota and more.

 

In the last few years, she continued to hone her skills as a burgeoning voice actor and can be heard as"Tsunemi” in Netflix’s Japanese Drama ‘FIRST LOVE’ and for her audiobook narration for Penguin Random House. Her first ever narration was for 'ARSENIC AND ADOBO’ by Mia Manansala which was named one ‘Buzzfeed’s Most Highly Anticipated Books of 2020’.

 

She is a co-founder of Filipinx Actors Barkada, an all-Filipinx artist group with members across the U.S. and Canada.  Over the pandemic, she also co-founded APA Artists for Change that aims to connect, educate, and galvanize artists toward higher civic engagement on local and national levels. Danice is a passionate advocate for mental health + wellness, social justice, and doing what we can in a society that often seems insurmountable.
